A success in a particular context!
From November 16 to 27, the second edition of the X-TechLab training sessions in Crystallography and X-ray Diffraction Techniques and in Mathematical Engineering and X Imaging was held. Despite the pandemic, the organizers, supervisors and participants gave everything to make these sessions possible and effective: the majority of participants on site, supervisors and some participants online; Although these sessions were mainly theoretical allowing the initiation to the use of several analysis software such as APEX 3, Olex2 in crystallography; In Mathematical Engineering, the experiments enabled the analysis of 100 samples from different families of Benin wood. The structures of several molecules, synthesized by scientists, were solved during this session. After checking in the Cambridge Structure Database (CSD), they could be a discovery! The session brought together thirty (30) African scientists from six countries: Benin, Cameroon, Côte-d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana and Nigeria. Special mention for the number of participants which went from 3 over the whole of the previous 2019 edition to 9 for this one session of the year 2020.
We thank the lecturers (20) who, from the USA, England, Italy, France, Switzerland, Panama, Botswana, Jordan and some here in Benin made this session possible.
